There will be no discussion about South China Sea during the upcoming G20 summit for it is purely focused on economic issues.
Vice Foreign Minister Li Baodong said G20 leaders must not be distracted with any other topics, adding that the summit is all about global economic governance, trade and investment.
The leaders of the world's 20 largest economies is set to gather at the Chinese city Hangzhou from September 4 to 5 to talk over a variety of global economic issues. The summit will take place amid the prolonged economic depression and continues slowdown in the economy of China.
Beijing fears that the US and its allies will use the summit to raise up the issue on South China Sea. China doubts about such move since the tension is still growing after the international tribunal court issued a decision in favor of the Philippines over disputed maritime territory.
Earlier this year, G7 leaders' statement on including the South China Sea dispute in the final part of the summit was criticized by China.
In the meantime, China is gathering support from New Delhi, India to counter any possible move by the US and its allies during the summit.
According to source, China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi, requested Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to not join the US-led bloc, during its three-day tour in India.
