Even the happiest place on Earth was not spared from the strong and destructive typhoon Mangkhut. The typhoon hit Hong Kong with strong winds and heavy rainfall which caused destructions of infrastructures including some facilities in the Disneyland resort.
According to the previous report, Signal No. 10 Mangkhut had a march in Hong Kong on September 16. The wind gust up by 173 km/hour to 223 km/hour.
Hong Kong Disneyland made an announcement on September 17 about its temporary suspension brought by the aftermath of typhoon Mangkhut.
"Hong Kong Disneyland will be closed today (Sep 17, 2018) in the aftermath of severe typhoon Mangkhut, which has caused tree falls and other damage. Inspiration Lake Recreation Centre will be closed until further notice. Please check the website for the latest information. Thank you for your understanding," the announcement said.
Hong Kong Disneyland reopened on September 18 but made an announcement about the restoration of some of its facilities, "In the aftermath of severe typhoon Mangkhut, part of the park areas and facilities are suspended for repair. Inspiration Lake Recreation Centre is closed until further notice."
There may be facilities that people may not be able to use or explore at the moment because of the damage the typhoon has brought. Staff and administration of Hong Kong Disneyland assured the public that they are doing their best to restore and improve the facilities immediately.
It can be recalled that the Walt Disney Company opened Hong Kong Disneyland in September 2005 in partnership with the Hong Kong government. The theme park was built in accordance with Chinese culture and teachings of feng shui.
