The Amity Foundation participated in the 2023 Annual Meeting of the China Foundation Forum (CFF), organizing a parallel conference on "Climate Change and Community-Based Adaptation."

According to the foundation, the CFF’s 2023 annual conference opened in Shenzhen on November 22, with the participation of nearly 1,000 partners from 31 provinces (municipalities, autonomous regions) across the country, including Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan.

Ling Chunxiang, secretary general of the foundation, had a conversation with Wang Junxiu, professor and doctoral supervisor at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). Based on the foundations' and the charity industry's credibility, the two parties discussed the relationship between credibility and social trust, the relationship between public welfare and the construction of a better life and society, and the social mentality towards the development of public welfare.

Secretary General Ling pointed out that improving the integrity and credibility of organizations is one of the most basic and long-term tasks of public welfare charities. On this matter, organizations could plan public welfare participation methods for different groups, carrying out advocacy for the public during their participation, which gradually increased the influence on the social mentality of joining in public welfare.

Professor Wang presented the composition and influencing factors of social mentality based on his research results on the Blue Book of Social Mentality and the Blue Book of a Better Life: Repoets on People's Needs of a Better Life (2020) . He also addressed the importance of public welfare as a leading subject in building social trust and enhancing social cohesion.

Global climate warming has become obvious in recent years, resulting in frequent extreme weather events. How to deal with climate change is becoming one of the hot topics in the field of philanthropy. As a result, this annual meeting established a number of climate change agendas, including a parallel forum on November 22 called "Climate Change and Community-Based Adaptation," which the Amity Foundation, Guangdong Harmony Foundation (GHF), and Inner Mongolia Lao Niu Foundation co-organized.

He Wen, deputy secretary general of the Amity Foundation, elaborated on the data model of climate change with the theme "Actions and Strategies for Climate Change,” sharing the foundation’s work in climate change and adaptation over the years.

To help communities adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change, the Amity Foundation has initiated a project with local social organizations to create a community disaster risk assessment tool that will assist communities in developing response plans for micro-disasters.
