There are calls for intercession for the heavy rains over the past few days that have caused damage in many areas of Guangdong.
According to Xinhua News Agency, four people have died and ten are still missing as a result of the rainfall. A total of 110,000 people have been relocated, and 25,800 people have been emergently resettled in the province until April 22.
Rain has been falling for more than a week since April 16. Several hydrological stations in the main stream and tributaries of the Beijiang River have been on alert, mainly in Shaoguan, Qingyuan, and Zhaoqing City.
On April 20, Guangdong issued a warning that the Lianjiang River would experience a 50-year flood. The next day, it issued a warning that the Beijiang River would encounter a near 100-year flood.
As heavy rains are still continuing, the following intercessions are requested:
1. The affected people in Guangdong would be protected without any more casualties.
2. The flood-stricken people can be provided with supplies they need.
3. The people can be properly resettled, with the safety of disaster relief personnel who have stepped forward to participate in the rescue in crisis.
4. More people will reach out and help those stricken by the disaster.
5. The heavy rainfall weather will be over soon, the warning level will drop, and the flood waters will recede as soon as possible.
