At the host's invitation, Rev. Xu Xiaohong, chairperson of the National Three-Self Patriotic Movement (TSPM), attended the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
According to CCC&TSPM, on September 5, approximately 3,200 persons from distinct sectors at home and abroad, including leaders of FOCAC’s African members and representatives of relevant African regional organizations and international organizations, were present at the event. The theme of this summit is “Joining Hands to Advance Modernization and Build a High-Level China-Africa Community With a Shared Future.”
President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote address, “Joining Hands to Advance Modernization and Build a Community with a Shared Future,” at the opening ceremony. President Xi proposed elevating bilateral relations between China and all African countries that have diplomatic ties with China to the level of strategic relations and advancing the overall characterization of Sino-African relations to an "all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era." China, alongside Africa, will pursue ten partnership actions aimed at jointly advancing modernization. At the summit, two key initiatives were also adopted: “Beijing Declaration on Jointly Building an All-Weather China-Africa Community with a Shared Future for the New Era” and “Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Beijing Action Plan (2025-2027)” were adopted at the summit.
Established in 2000, the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) currently has 55 members, including China, 53 African countries engaging in diplomatic relations with China, and the African Union (AU) Commission. The 2024 Beijing Summit saw the participation of the United Nations Secretary-General, the Chairperson of the AU Commission, two presidential representatives, and 51 African heads of state and government.
