As severe rainfall and floods continue to affect northern China, including parts of Beijing and Hebei Province, the Amity Foundation has swiftly mobilized emergency relief efforts in coordination with government agencies and corporate partners.
On July 28, Chinese President Xi Jinping issued important instructions on flood control and disaster relief, urging full implementation of safety measures, targeted attention to vulnerable areas, and timely deployment of rescue personnel and supplies to safeguard lives and property. That same day, Premier Li Qiang emphasized the need to evacuate at-risk populations and ensure their safety.
Following these directives, China's Ministry of Emergency Management activated a Level IV national emergency response for disaster relief in Beijing and Hebei. Through the public-private emergency support mechanism, the Ministry—alongside partners such as Alibaba Group and the Amity Foundation—began dispatching supplies to heavily affected areas.
On July 29, Amity delivered essential supplies including instant food, drinking water, bedding, and hygiene items to affected villages in Yi County, Hebei Province. In addition, donations from online platforms like Tencent Charity, Alipay, and Alibaba's philanthropic vendors enabled the delivery of food and clean water to residents in need.
On July 30, in collaboration with the Dongrun Foundation and Xiaomi Foundation, Amity dispatched 2,000 emergency supply kits containing daily necessities such as toiletries, summer blankets, and disinfectants to communities in Beijing's Miyun and Huairou districts. A further 1,500 supply boxes supported by the HSBC Charity Foundation began arriving in Beijing's Miyun district.
To address urgent livelihood needs, Amity launched a digital cash assistance program in cooperation with Tencent Charity, providing RMB 300,000 in flexible funds to 1,000 vulnerable households in Langyashan Town, Yi County. This initiative allows affected families to purchase essential goods according to their specific needs.
Meanwhile, the Xiaomi Foundation contributed RMB 5 million to support post-disaster resettlement and recovery in coordination with several charity organizations, including Amity. A public fundraising campaign titled "A Safe Home Built with Love" was also launched on Xiaomi's philanthropic platform to gather additional resources.
