On September 29, the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee held its 22nd group study session on systematically advancing the sinicization of religion. General Secretary Xi Jinping presided over the session and delivered a speech.
According to Xinhua News Agency, Xi called for strengthening institutional development, governance, and grassroots efforts to promote the sinicization of religion and guide religions to adapt to socialist society.
He highlighted that since the 18th CPC National Congress, the Party has advanced new concepts and measures, improved systems, and enhanced the rule of law in religious affairs, achieving positive results.
Only by continuously promoting the xinicization of religion, Xi said, can social harmony, ethnic unity, and national stability be secured.
Xi urged religious figures and believers to embrace socialist core values, strengthen cultural identity, and root religions in Chinese soil while integrating with traditional Chinese culture.
He also called on religious circles to demonstrate initiative and renewal in doctrines, management, rituals, and conduct, while enhancing self-education and self-discipline.
He emphasized the importance of governing religious affairs by law, improving regulations and policies, strengthening legal education, and ensuring strict enforcement.
Xi also urged Party committees at all levels to enhance leadership over religious work and build a united effort to advance the sinicization of religion.
