The members of the Chengdu Shangxiang Church sent a 9-peson medical team in the community of Chunyang in Xinjin County for a free clinic for the citizens of the area.

At least 100 people benefitted from the free clinic and they were even given free medicine for common ailments such as colds, cough, antiphlogistic and gastrointestinal problems. It is estimated that the medicine distributed for the free clinic amounted to over 6000 yuan in value.

Since 2006, the members of the Chengdu Shangxiang Church and the city's TSPM had started free and voluntary clinics for the grassroots sector and serve the residents affected by the Wenchuan Earthquake such as in the areas of Dujiangyan, Chongzhou, Pengzhou and the Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture.

Sister Zeng, an experienced doctor of the team, said, "We came to Xinjin County this time: firstly, to serve people; secondly, to help the church there preach the gospel. There is a church there, but it has no stable place for followers to gather all the time. A few days ago, the church in Xinjin purchased a building near Chunyang Community. It united us to bring welfare to the community."

Chunyang Community showed appreciation by welcoming the team and actively took part in the event.
