As millions of students across China are sitting the “Gaokao”(an exam to decide which university they will go to), the churches in China are volunteering to help students and their parents during this tough period.
Many churches join the service, such as praying for students and opening church during the break for them.
This year during Gaokao, the Gospel Church and the Maoying Church in Zhoukou set up Loving Service Station, offering free water for students sitting the decisive exam.
Rev. Ma Xin, senior pastor of Gospel church posted some blessing words plus pictures showing church staff serving students. “Pray that God grant you peace. Bless all of the students: all wishes come true, and Pass the examination! ” reads Rev. Ma’s sharing.
Official announcement, of Mochoulu Church in Nanjing , published via WeChat official account, reads that “in order to offer a rest place for students’ parents, Mochoulu Church will open and welcome all come in for a rest and enjoy the pantry.”
Some Churches in Fujian Province open their underground garage for parents of students free parking, during which the said churches pray for the students in their morning prayer meetings.
Gaokao, as introduced in many western news outlets, is Chinese students’ toughest exam, which decides which university they will go to. This exam can be a life-changing one.
According to national news agency Xinhua, some 9.4 million students will take the test this year, competing to get into China’s top universities.
