On September 19, Sanqi Church of Xi'ning celebrated its first anniversary of founding in Qinghai. In the ceremony, the church leader addressed everyone in a speech with a pastor delivering a sermon and bless it. The believers performed choruses, dances and solos. Most of the congregation on the spot are middle-aged and elderly women.
The church leader, Chen Lan, tells CCD that the church sprang from a small gathering of two or three members in a family in 1981. With an increasing number of people, they began to worship God in a rented house after 1990.
Until July 2014, the congregation started to build a new church whose principal part was completed at the end of October the same year. Since then, only the Sunday services were held in it. It was put into full use in April 2015 and dedicated on September 19.
Currently, the Sunday attendance reaches more than 200 people.
Rev. Tong Ping'an, the chairman and president of Qinghai CCC&TSPM, said that there are 26 registered churches and legal gathering places in the province, among which are three churches which lie in Xi'ning. Sanqi Church belongs to one of the legal gathering places.
