Authorities in Meihekou City, Jilin Province, have banned the Smyrna Church from operating without proper registration.
According to an August 21 announcement from the Meihekou Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau, a joint investigation by the city's Public Security Bureau and Ethnic and Religious Affairs Bureau found that the Smyrna Christian Church—located in a garage at Tiancheng International, Guangming Street, and led by Ms. Li Fengxiang—had not registered with the civil affairs bureau and had been operating in the name of a social organization, making it an illegal entity.
The decision to prohibit the church was made in accordance with relevant provisions of the "Regulations on the Registration and Administration of Social Organizations" and the "Measures for Banning Illegal Social Organizations."
