The Xi'an government banned an unregistered Christian church this week.

On July 29, the Civil Affairs Bureau of Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, issued a notice officially banning the "Xi'an Living Spring Church." Following an investigation, authorities concluded that the church was unregistered and had been operating in the name of a social organization. Citing Article 3, Paragraph 1, Item 1 of the "Measures for Banning Illegal Social Organizations," officials classified the church as an illegal social organization. The ban was enacted per the "Regulations on the Registration and Administration of Social Organizations" and the "Measures for Banning Illegal Social Organizations."
