After 10-year construction, Panshi Church of Daqing, Heilongjiang Province, the allegedly largest Chinese church, eventually is dedicated on November 3, 2016. More than 100 pastors and 3000 believers across China attend the dedication ceremony.
The grand ceremony consists of four parts including the ritual of door-opening and the dedication service, lasting seven and a half hours without a break. Following the service, sixty-six programs including choruses and dances are performed to give thanks to God.
Rev. Liu Yang, the senior pastor of the church, plays a short introduction video to show the church construction process. It tells that the largest Chinese church covers 55,000 m2 with a construction area of 30,000 m2. It stands at 95 m high, 52.6m wide and 93m long, owing a building that will specifically hold wedding and funerals, at a rating of exceeding five stars.
He claims that the construction cost 135 million yuan. Since 2007, he spent three years to get official certificates. Then the construction started in April 2010, yet was forced to suspend for two years due to fund shortage. Meanwhile, voices of misunderstanding and slandering attacked him.
In 2015, he and his wife sold their house at the price of CNY 420,000 (USD 62,000) and donated the sum to the construction. He witnesses that since then, there was never any financial difficulty. Moreover, donations of large sums of money surged into the offering box.
