On Nov 15, Ningxia's newest church located in Litong District, Wuzhong, is dedicated with about 700 people in attendance.
A pastor of Ningxia tells CCD that the former church was demolished in 2013 owing to urban planning and construction. The local government allocated a land to the church with a compensation of 800,000 yuan. Costing more than 6 million yuan, the new church that can hold over 500 believers was completed in two years with a construction area of 2000 m2.
Choirs from the local churches present hymns and representatives of the churches in Wuzhong address congratulations. A delegate of CCC & TSPM and leaders of the local department of ethnic and religious affairs attend the ceremony.
It is said that around 27 nationalities including Hui, Han, Manchu and Mongol reside in Wuzhong, a prefecture-level city in Ningxia. Hui people accounts for more than the half population of the city. There are approximately 200 Christians, most of whom are outsiders.
