Elder Che Hanying, who served Tianshui Church for more than 30 years, died at 92 on Dec. 3, 2016, Gansu. Once the director of the church board, he was known as one of the "iron triangle" of the church, coupled with Rev. Wei Yongliang and Elder Li Jinghang who also passed away at the age of over 90.
Preacher Zhang Ping from Huixian Church of Longnan tells CCD that his memorial service was held on the street near his home on Dec. 4, according to his last wishes that the service might be an evangelizing opportunity for unsaved souls. The funeral was conducted the second day.
"He was very humble, respected by young people." Zhang says, "He possessed great prestige among surrounding churches. He also liked the young generation. "
It is known that Elder Che retired as an English teacher from a key middle school of Gansu at over 50 due to his poor health. After retirement, he devoted the rest of his life to the church ministry.
