In this world, Christians face problems of needing money. Some Christians may consider talking about money as "unspiritually," who even don't mention it. But the Bible records that Jesus often spoke of money and many of his words are related to money. Instead of teaching us to break with wealth, Jesus taught us to be more cautious with money and how to treat and use money.
The Bible says, "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matt. 6:21) The hearts of covetous people will be chained by treasure that drives them away from the Lord and entangled with the thoughts of how to use money every day. So Jesus taught us not to rely on money and jump out of the fetters of wealth. Be the master of money rather than the servant.
Below are ten Bible verses through which we can know the role of money and that all the things come from God. When we depend on God, we will never be bound by money and believe that God has reigned and powered over money for us.
A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. Proverbs 11:25, NIV
But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. 1 Timothy 6:6-11, NIV
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Psalm 49:6-8 Those who trust in their wealth and boast of their great riches? No one can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for them -- the ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever enough.
No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Matthew 6:24, NIV
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."Hebrews 13:5, NIV
