Four academic research bases were founded in Fujian Theological Seminary on May 16, 2017 and it is currently considered as the fruits of the cooperation between the Chinese religious community and the academia.
The four bases located in three universities are as follows: the Institute on Religion of Minzu Univerisity of China, the Centre on Religion and Society and the Department of Sociology of East China Normal University and the Institue on Religion of Xiamen University.
"Fujian Province, located in southeast coastal area of China, plays a vital role in the history of Christianity in China and it is of important research value because it is where Christianity was preached in the early times with distinct characteristics." Said President Yue Qinghua of the seminary. "As the main base for the cultivation of the provincial church personnels and theological thought construction, the seminary collaborates with professional research teams of universities as well as academic resources, in order to steadily improve the capabilities of theological thinking and academic dialogue and promote the exploration and practice of sinicization of Christianity."
Director Yang Xi'nan of the Hong Kong Institute of Sino-Christian Studies put great hopes on the seminary, praising that the college's tolerant and open spirit will result in more research results that deserve the attention of the academe and the Christian community.
Founded by Fujian CCC & TSPM in 1983, the college is the first provincial seminary established on the Chinese mainland since the Cultural Revolution.
