The sacred music ministry of the Inner Mongolia CCC&TSPM performed the major biblical drama "Esther" in Xigu Church of Lanzhou and the church in Baiyin, Gansu, from August 23 to 27, 2017.

The music ministry started to write the script in 2005 and the first rehearsal took place in July 2009. The drama made its debut in Haixi Church in Hohhot on December 5, 2010. The entire cast of 37 members performed 48 shows across China. What's more, the drama was recorded on video and uploaded to a local Christian music website.

The historical musical adapted from the book of Esther tells the life of the Israelites in Persia after the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah were occupied in 539 B.C. It depicts Esther and Mordecai holding firm to their pure faith and defying brutal suppression in the face of national adversity to eventually save the Jewish people.

The cast wanted to show truth through the drama: only when God's chosen people guard their faith to be separated from the worldly trends and customs can they become the salt and light of the earth.
