Tianjin Gangweilu Church celebrated 100 years of serving God on November 18, 2017.

The church was founded by the  American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions in 1917 covering an area of 3.9 mu (0.64 acres). It included a chapel and a rectory. The century-old church endured a lot of hardships such as World War II, being closed during the Cultural Revolution, and partial damage in the Tangshan earthquake. After the reform and opening up, it resumed services on Christmas of 1993. Rev. Chen Kewei was the senior pastor.

Subordinate to the Tianjin CCC&TSPM, the church carried out baptism for the city's suburban counties, trained volunteers, and made Communion grape juice for Tianjin's churches from 1993 to 2006. The volunteers who received training have become the core staff of the churches in Tianjin.
