On July 22, 2018, the sacrament department of Wuxi International Church held an open class of funeral liturgy. Over 200 people attended it.
Accustomed to the traditional Chinese funeral etiquette customs that are superstitious and extravagant, many members didn't know much about Christian funeral liturgy.
Teacher Chen Meiqin, the department's head, shared how to accompany dying people, comfort the family of a deceased person, and keep harmony with non-Christian family members. She also told the audiences the preparation for providing necessities for died people, the arrangement of mourning halls, and suggested order of a funeral service. Chen mentioned how the church staff prepared and allocated work for funerals and the meaning of a memorial service. A Q&A part was conducted, too.
