On Sunday, Haikou Road Church in Changchun, Jilin Province, held Easter services and baptism following the Good Friday Communion service. This was also the first baptism service of the year since in-person meetings were suspended due to COVID-19.
The Easter service at Haikou Road Church was divided into two sessions, and the first service was in the morning, which started at 7 am. The congregation and to-be-baptized brothers and sisters arrived early at the church, and the serving staff greeted the members who came to the service. The believers followed the entry procedure of scanning the health code and taking their temperatures and then were guided by the staff to enter the church in an orderly manner, following the choir leaders in praise, Bible reading, and praying.
Amidst the hymns raised by the choir, Senior Pastor Yan Peng ascended to the altar dressed in a vestment. Greeting the congregation for a happy Easter, Rev. Yan led the congregation in reciting the New Testament scriptures from Luke 20:19-23, with the theme “The Lord Christ is Risen” as the sermon.
After the sermon, more than 20 brothers and sisters knelt in front of the altar cross in the sanctuary to be baptized by him in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Easter worship and praise services followed the baptism service. Due to epidemic prevention concerns, the Easter services was divided into two sessions to separate the believers, each of whom received a "resurrection egg".
