On May 20, the Shanghai CC&TSPM issued more than 300 certificates to the local clergy, including 41 newly appointed.
Before the ceremony, Rev. Yang Yulan, chairman of Shanghai TSPM, encouraged them to set an example for believers and serve with perseverance to let others see their progress, based on 1 Timothy 4:12-16, according to Shanghai CC&TSPM (Christian Council & Three-Self Patriotic Movement).
Issuing 313 copies of new certificates, they appointed 41 new ordained pastors, elders, and teachers.
Rev. Geng Weizhong, president of Shanghai CC, said that the identification and filing of religious personnel was a practice of adapting religion to China’s socialist society.
Putting forward requirements of "order", "identity" and "position", he expected to promote Shanghai pastors to strengthen the sense of norms and legal awareness through this identification, as well as encouraged them to love the country and religion and serve each other like light and salt.
