A landmark megachurch in China's eastern-coastal Jiangsu Province held a special prayer meeting for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics in three different languages.
On 18th Jul, the pastors of each of the three congregations of Dushu Lake Christian Church, located in Suzhou Industrial Park, led the prayer meeting which was attended by more than 1000 believers.
Rev. Jiemiao He, president of Suzhou CC&TSPM (Christian Council & Three-Self Patriotic Movement), and senior pastor of Dushu Lake Christian Church, together with Pastor Brad of Suzhou International Fellowship and Pastor Kim Jinil of the Korean Fellowship each prayed in Chinese, English, and Korean, respectively while the congregation listened quietly in meditation.
The three pastors prayed for wisdom for the authorities to prepare and organize the Olympics amid the ongoing global pandemic.
Rev. He started, “Lord, we thank you that you bring this beautiful thing to China, to Beijing. Let the beautiful thing not only be a blessing to our China but also a blessing to everyone in the world, every country, and region across the globe."
"Lord, as we pray for the Olympic Games, we see the five Olympic rings linked together. And we pray Father for that same spirit of the Olympic Games, one of world unity, one where we can get together as different people groups, different languages, different cultures, but in a spirit of love and in a spirit of unity, we can compete with one another without there being any animosity," Pastor Brad continued.
The English-speaking pastor prayed for such a spirit to prevail within the Olympic games, and for this very same unity and cooperation to be mirrored throughout the world. Focusing on the global Covid crisis, he gave thanks for God’s protection through the vaccines that had been developed and prayed for more neighborly acts of the better-vaccinated countries to share vaccines with the countries that have not yet received enough. He ended his prayer by praying for peace for the violence in South Africa, and for safety for those affected by the floods in Germany.
Pastor Kim also lifted up unity and peace in his prayers, "Lord, please use the Olympics to make China a precious country that contributes to the unity of the world... Just as we are reconciled with God through Jesus's blood, may Jesus's love also be with those nations that oppose each other, and convert that hatred relationship into a loving and cooperative relationship. Just like now, a TSPM church, an international fellowship, and a Korean fellowship are together worshiping God."
Dushu Lake Christian Church is a mega TSPM church, which opened in 2010 as a bilingual church, and has since developed a third congregation (Korean, as well as Chinese and English).
