The award ceremony of the first nursing skills competition was held in the Ark Home for the Elderly in Kaifu District, Changsha, central China’s Hunan Province.
Aiming to improve the overall service skills of nursing staff, the nursing home on July 29 organized the event, including both a theoretical and a practical contest. Three staff members won the top three places after an intense competition.
During the award ceremony held last Wednesday, President Huang Kegang summarized all that had happened and went on to further comment on the competition, encouraging the staff to improve their skills and quality to serve the elderly better.
It was said that the training of nursing staff’s skills was a constant and persistent task of the organization to provide better care.
Established in 1988 by the Changsha Municipal CC&TSPM, the home is located in the same compound as Changsha CC&TSPM and Chengbei Church.
More than 140 elderly people now live in the home, which has more than 200 beds in two apartment buildings. Each suite has three or four bedrooms, one living room, one bathroom, and one bath, as well as one attendant serving inside. Each bedroom accommodates two people.
