A Zhejiang church launched a commemorative ceremony for reconstruction on October 19.
During the celebration for the church located in Sizhai Village, Dongbaihu Town, Zhuji City, Zhejiang Province, more than 250 Christians from Zhuji City and surrounding areas attended.
Around 9 o’clock, a drum band full of folk characteristics and rustic flavors began to play followed by several hymns, including "Here is the Presence of God".
Afterward, Rev. Ren Huiyong from a church in Zhuji gave a sermon entitled "God’s Home—The Church of the Eternal God". He explained the importance of the church to Christians, saying that believers should care about the affairs of the church, which is the family of God and churchgoers. In addition, he exhorted them to love and serve each other to attract more people into the church, to advance the Lord’s Gospel and to protect the common family of Christians.
Then, a male believer named Si Duoyong, the descendant of the founder of Sizhai Church, was invited to deliver a speech. Besides the great changes of the church, he shared stories regarding himself and his parents within the church.
At the same time, with the help of calligraphy works of the "Beatitudes", "Apostles' Creed" and the Lord's Prayer hung on the walls of the church, Si encouraged attendees to take root in the truth and obey God's words to better fulfill the Lord's mission. That mission is to go into all the world to make disciples of all nations.
In the afternoon, after a brief sermon from the pastor, staff workers from Sizhai Church and other churches in the city presented theatrical performances in thanks to God.
Located in the center of Zhejiang, Zhuji was the hometown of the ancient beauty Xi Shi in Yue State (496-465 BC). Situated at the southern foot of Kuaiji Mountain in the southeast of Zhuji City, Sizhai Village is known as the "Professor Village", where more than 120 professors were born over the past 100 years. In the 1980s, the local Christian couple of Si Wuming and Liu Ruth, who were Si Duoyong’s parents, established the first Sizhai church. After many changes, the church was rebuilt in 2021.
