Volunteers from a Zhejiang church donated clothes and transported them to Yunnan at their own expense recently.
Knowing that some Yunnan villagers were in need of clothes, members from the Chenguang Volunteer Team from Taizhou Jiaojiang Church donated their own clothes which weighed 1,110 kilograms in total and were packed in 55 bags on September 6. One volunteer named Chen Xuejuan donated 500 yuan for shipping, as she couldn’t participate in the clothing donation activity in the morning. They contributed a total of 2,350 yuan for deliverance, according to Jiaojiang Church.
"If you have spare clothes, you can donate them to ethnic minorities in need here, as their lives are not as good as those of coastal residents, though their living conditions are getting better and better," said Rev. Chen Yunhua from a church in Yulong County, Yunnan Province.
The county is inhabited by ethnic minorities, such as Lisu, Naxi, Pumi, Miao, Jingpo, Bulang, and Bai.
Several volunteers loaded the goods onto the truck which would drive from Jiaojiang Church to local logistics. Mr. Zheng Haibin, the owner of the car, refused to accept transportation fees when he knew that this batch of goods was a donation of clothes.
