CCC&TSPM hosted a video conference with an American seminary and two ministries on Tuesday.
During the meeting on November 2, reviewing the contacts between CCC&TSPM and Dallas Theological Seminary, the Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) and Insight for Living Ministries over the past decade, Rev. Xu Xiaohong, chairman of Three-Self Patriotic Movement (TSPM), stated they must fight together against COVID-19 which had affected churches all over the world, as mankind belonged to a community with a common destiny.
China had achieved major strategic results in controlling the pandemic as most urban churches had resumed in-person services, including Shanghai foreign fellowships, and people’s lives had basically returned to normal, he continued.
Despite some sporadic cases, the overall situation was well under control. As all countries had been impacted by the pandemic, especially with regards to the economy, the pastor asked attendees to pray for churches all over the world for the pandemic to come to an end.
Rev. Wu Wei, president of China Christian Council (CCC), shared that although living in different places and environments, Christians believed in the same God who gives the same grace. In the face of suffering, believers should not just explain suffering, but also understand it. Wu encouraged others to practice their faith in life, for example, learning to love others in suffering, waiting quietly before God, and relying on Him.
Tom Hayes, executive vice president of International Ministries of Insight for Living, which is a Bible-teaching radio ministry, stated that their main ministry during the pandemic was to convey the truth of the Bible and train pastoral staff faithfully and consistently in many places to meet the needs of churches.
Joshua Winn, executive assistant to the president of Dallas Theological Seminary, shared thoughts on future theological education, the latest strategies, and how they carried out theological education amidst the pandemic.
Mrs. Susie Rowan, former executive director of BSF, and Mrs. Hollie Roberts, the executive director, explained the current status of their online Bible study ministry.
