On World Autism Awareness Day which falls on April 2 each year, a faith-based disabled service center in China’s northeastern Shandong Province launched a charity fundraising event for autistic adults.
Joint with Amity Foundation and Tencent Public Welfare and Charity Foundation, Ji’nan Faith & Hope & Love Disability Service Center conducted matching donations on April 1-3, during which time each person donating either one yuan or more could provide five opportunities for doubling matching donations.
Since the 99 Charity Day, the largest online donation campaign, in September last year, the project has received more than 340,000 yuan from around 8000 charitable donors, aiming to help 30 elderly mentally disabled people enhance employment awareness and establish normal lifestyle habits.
In terms of the specific implementation, the wishes of the trainees were discovered during the centralized training and individual training. According to the conditions and resources required by their wishes, the practitioners of the project conducted targeted training and then assisted trainees in participating in the work process, revealing the students' wishes through social integration activities.
They encouraged more people to participate in the event to help the disadvantaged people find a "job".
Established on June 21, 2016, the center is the first private non-profit organization in Shandong Province to provide services for adolescents, and adults with autism and intellectual disabilities. It has been committed to serving adults with autism for more than ten years, providing equal opportunities for growth and development to them, who have their own advantages with room for growth.
