Used for COVID-19 testing, a megachurch in Beijing donated food and items to help frontline workers prevent heat stroke.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in January 2020, Gangwashi Church has implemented the measures of “double suspension” five times, which refers to suspending the opening of places of worship and group religious activities, abiding by the requirements of COVID-19 prevention and control, the church reported.
In accordance with relevant departments, the church opened as a nucleic acid testing site for 13 rounds of testing, with sterilization and inspection conducted after the COVID-19 specimen collection.
While believers were participating in volunteer services, two pastors of the church on April 10 paid a visit to a Christian in Haidian Hospital whose family members could not be contacted, with a donation of 1,000 yuan in response to the request of the Haidian Public Security Bureau.
With the arrival of summer, on May 24, church staff purchased food and items to help cool down street staff and personnel working in COVID-19 testing sites in West Chang'an Avenue and to help them to avoid suffering from heatstroke.
