The foundation stone was laid for a church in China’s southern-coastal province of Guangdong, which was built to commemorate the first Chinese pastor.
Following COVID-19 protocols on June 11, Hecheng Church in Gaoming District, Foshan City, hosted a groundbreaking ceremony attended by nearly 100 believers from 21 churches and six gathering sites, CCC&TSPM reported.
Elder Wang Fuhua, director of the church council, introduced the history of the church. In 1928, the church was built by the Chinese Christian Church in memory of Liang Fa, the second Chinese believer and the first Chinese evangelist who wrote Good Words to Admonish the Age which influenced the leader of the Taiping Rebellion, Hong Xiuquan. Deemed a dilapidated building, the church obtained 1,700 (0.42 acres) square meters of land to rebuild its main buildings, memorial hall, and function rooms.
After completion, Liang Fa Memorial Hall will be open to the public, displaying his historical deeds.
