Due to a surge of COVID-19 cases in Fuzhou, China’s southeastern coastal Fujian Province, local churches launched a series of anti-epidemic measures.

Besides the suspension of in-person gatherings beginning October 24, churches in Mawei District called on believers to follow the COVID-19 protocols and avoid going out, said Fujian CC&TSPM.

Mawei CC&TSPM organized churches in the district to carry out donation activities in response to the epidemic. According to preliminary statistics, Mawei Church, Kuai’an  Church and Dongfangmingcheng Gathering Site in Fuzhou donated 230,000 yuan worth of KN95 masks, mineral water, rice, eight-treasure porridge, and milk to many communities, police stations, village committees, and property management companies.

Many believers in the district also participated in the epidemic prevention work. As medical workers, some carried out COVID-19 testing for residents on the front line. Some joined the community volunteer team to maintain order at the testing sites. Some assisted in nucleic acid screening. Some helped residents in the community register information related to the nucleic acid test. Some helped with the distribution of materials in the communities. And others participated in the anti-epidemic efforts in villages and towns streets as well as national highway crossings.

Fujian Province reported 15 new confirmed cases (4 cases in Fuzhou) and 47 new asymptomatic patients (41 cases in Fuzhou) on November 8, according to the Fujian Health Commission.
