In China’s southeastern coastal Zhejiang Province, a church organized believers to write and distribute Christian couplets and the Chinese character “fu”, which means blessing and good fortune.
Sicheng Church in Hangzhou released a notice saying it would hold a calligraphy activity after the second Sunday service on January 15 to promote traditional Chinese culture and wish Christians a safe and peaceful New Year. It also reminded its members that the quantity was limited, therefore the couplets were to be available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Visitors should follow the COVID-19 protocols.
Built in 1927, Sicheng Church can accommodate 1,800 persons and has about 5,000 regular churchgoers. And Zhejiang Theological Seminary was located there from 1984 to 2000.
