Shenzhen Church in South China’s Guangdong Province held a series of activities to celebrate the 39th anniversary of its reopening.

Recently, Shenzhen Church issued a notice to launch celebration activities from May 22 to May 31, including a Bible study meeting, vineyard praise meeting, special worship & witness session for young and middle-aged people, Sunday service, and online morning prayer meeting.

Founded in Luohu District in 1898 by the Rhenish Missionary Society, the church was rebuilt in 1949. After the Cultural Revolution launched in 1966, it reopened in 1984, becoming the first church to resume worship in Shenzhen. At that time, more than 70 believers attended a Sunday service every week in the church which covered an area of 120 square meters (0.03 acres).

With more than 3500 worshippers in 1997, the church was given a plot of land covering 4,400 square meters (1.09 acres, including a green belt allocated by the government, with the new church put into use in 2001.

The church participates in social services every year, including professional medical services, psychological counseling, children's education, blood donation, disaster relief, and student assistance programs.
