A church in Fujian Province marked the 170th anniversary of gospel transmission in Zhangzhou and the 100th anniversary of its construction with more than a thousand participants, including over sixty pastors.
During the service at Dongbanhou Church in Zhangzhou on October 21, Rev. Chen Yilu, vice chairman of the China Christian Council and executive vice president of Nanjing Union Theological Seminary, preached a sermon titled "Yearning the Courts of the Lord."
During the commemoration ceremony, the one hundred-member choir of the church sang songs, including "Blessings to Zhangzhou," with lyrics by Senior Pastor Zhuang Jingcheng.
Afterward, Rev. Zhuang briefly introduced the history and development of the church.
The next day, the church would hold a sacred music praise meeting. At that time, Rev. Chen would give a sermon titled "Three Trees in the Temple." Six choirs of the church and the invited Xiamen Sacred Choir would perform more than 20 hymns. In the afternoon's retreat, Rev. Lin Peiquan, associate professor of Nanjing Union Theological Seminary, would deliver a sermon with the title "Blessing All Peoples With Glory and Splendor."
