December 1 was the 36th “World AIDS Day," and a Christian volunteer team in Jiangxi carried out a 10-day series of publicity activities.
The Pingxiang Christian Volunteer Team held an AIDS awareness and prevention activity at Jiangxi Applied Engineering Vocational Institute, where they explained AIDS knowledge to more than 300 students, did quick AIDS screening for more than 50 students, and distributed more than 1,000 AIDS leaflets on November 22, according to Jiangxi CC&TSPM.
The team, together with the Pingxiang Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), distributed more than 3,000 AIDS knowledge leaflets at Pingxiang Health Vocational College on November 28.
The volunteers conducted AIDS and syphilis screenings for the public in the outpatient hall of the Second People’s Hospital of Pingxiang City on November 29. By organizing a lecture in the multifunctional room of the hospital’s infection department, they invited experts from the hospital to have face-to-face exchanges with 33 HIV sufferers. Experts explained the latest progress in AIDS treatment, health management knowledge for AIDS patients, prevention and treatment of AIDS and underlying diseases, and answered their questions. The service team distributed a bag of rice, a bucket of cooking oil, and a gift box of towels, preparing liver protection medicine for each HIV-infected person attending the meeting.
On December 1, they took part in the Pingxiang Municipal Health Commission's "World AIDS Day" propaganda activity and distributed varied AIDS propaganda materials to onlookers.
Founded in 2008, the Pingxiang Christian Volunteer Team has been dedicated to the AIDS prevention and treatment ministry for 15 years.
