The first course of the pastoral class of Guangzhou CC&TSPM in the first quarter of 2024 commenced at Guangdong Union Theological Seminary.
From January 8 to 10, Rev. Dr. Tsang, Ho-Yin Kenneth, president of the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Hong Kong, was invited to lecture on "The Integrated Mission—A Preliminary Study of Christian Diakonia," with the participation of nearly 70 pastoral staff from the churches in Guangzhou.
This course integrates biblical teachings on diakonia, offering elaboration on the definition and significance of social care services, the relationship between social care services and evangelism, as well as spiritual nurturing, and reflecting on the qualities of a service provider from a biblical perspective of Diakonia. It also covers the planning and implementation of social services.
Designed as interactive question-and-answer sessions, students engaged in class discussions where they inquired about their opinions, pastoral cases, and challenges in ministry. Rev. Zeng encouraged them to analyze problems with biblical stories, real-life situations, and practical experiences.
Holding a doctorate in theology, Rev. Dr. Tsang, Ho-Yin Kenneth, as the president of the Lutheran Theological Seminary and an associate professor focusing on diakonia and practical theology, is experienced in social work, church pastoral care, and social care services. He emphasizes the significance of building social care services in the Christian faith's concept of "love" and argues for cultivating a spirit of equality.
