Rev. Eric Tong Wing-mun, chairman of the Hong Kong Baptist Convention, paid visits to Guangdong CC&TSPM and Guangzhou CC&TSPM.
During his visits on April 18-21, Chairman Fan Hong'en of Guangdong CC&TSPM introduced the delegation to the objectives of the provincial CC&TSPM, the development history and current status of churches in Guangdong Province, as well as the sinicization of Christianity as the key ministry, reported Guangdong CC&TSPM. Fan also talked about the strict governance of the church, theological education, social services, and the cultivation of talents proficient in classic doctrines and Chinese traditional culture.
Reverend Tong shared ministries conducted by the Hong Kong Baptist Convention, especially the work of the Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service.
Both parties reached a consensus on strengthening cooperation between the Christian communities in Guangdong and Hong Kong to advance cultural exchanges and social service projects by seizing the opportunities in the Greater Bay Area.
Moreover, the delegation visited the Guangzhou Christian Council and conducted a special seminar on the sinicization of Christianity, gaining a better understanding of the history of Christianity in China.
During their stay in Guangdong, they also visited Dongshan Church, the Church of Our Savior, Guangxiao Church, and Nansha Street Gathering Point, as well as the Youth Innovation Entrepreneurship Base, engaging in exchanges regarding the status of each church, talent training, and social services.
