A delegation of 16 people, including key members of the Beijing Municipal CC&TSPM’s new leadership team and senior pastors from various churches, visited CCC&TSPM and Suzhou churches.
At the meeting on August 20, Rev. Wu Wei, chairman of the China Christian Council (CCC), briefed on the organizational structure and operation of the CCC&TSPM as well as the core of the sinicization of Christianity and two paths contributing to the process, reported the CCC&TSPM.
Rev. Wu stated that the sinicization of Christianity should be promoted systematically, not only in outward expressions but also in advancing the theological thought process. He also stressed the importance of advocating frugality, abstaining from extravagance, and practicing the strict governance of religions in an all-around way, urging the attendees to set a good example in these areas.
Rev. Liu Cuimin, chairman of the Beijing Christian Council (CC), gave an overview of the ministries carried out by the capital's churches since the 11th Beijing Municipal Christian Congress, which included promoting the sinicization of Christianity, strengthening institutional construction, prioritizing talent cultivation, and implementing comprehensive and strict governance of Christianity. Rev. Li Hua, vice chairman and general secretary of the Beijing CC, introduced the efforts and attempts undertaken to further the sinicization of Christianity.
Pastor Wu recognized the efforts of the Beijing CC&TSPM, encouraging the capital's churches to seize the opportunity and serve as a connecting bridge that is worthy of the times.
Officials from the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Commission of Beijing also joined the visit.
On the same day, the Beijing delegation traveled to Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, where they visited Dushuhu Lake Church, Shishan Church, and Xiangcheng Church. They learned about each church’s history, architectural style, and religious activities.
