Penglai Church in Shandong Province hosted a six-day workshop for leaders of grassroots churches and meeting points, aiming at equipping grassroots church leaders to enhance their service to local congregations.
The training lasted from November 11 to 16 and brought together 80 leaders and pastoral workers representing 25 grassroots churches within the district.
Penglai Church manages two churches and 23 meeting points, all situated in mountainous rural areas. The development of these gathering points varies due to their diverse geographical locations. Utilizing the winter farming off-season, Penglai Church organized this training course for grassroots leaders to improve the overall quality of leadership, support the healthy growth of the church, and strengthen individual service capabilities.
During the training session, Rev. Ling Zaixue, deputy director of the Luozhuang District CC&TSPM in Linyi City, citing passages from the Gospel of Mark, guided participants on becoming servants of God’s will. Elder Liu Zhiwen, former deputy director of the Lanshan District CC&TSPM in Linyi, drew from 1 Timothy to inspire attendees to serve as workers of God.
Throughout the training, the hosting church ensured comprehensive support for all participants. Members of the Martha Group woke up at 4 a.m. to prepare meals. When asked if the work was challenging, they thanked God for the opportunity to serve instead. Staff members from the church’s security and service teams also diligently fulfilled their responsibilities.
Additionally, the church organized sessions on "How to Identify and Resist Heresy and Cults" and conducted field training on fire safety drills.
