This Thursday, China's Ministry of Public Security issued a statement emphasizing its ongoing efforts to combat and prevent illegal activities related to cult organizations.
In an article titled "Public Security Organs Continue to Crack Down on and Prevent Criminal Activities of Cult Organizations," the Ministry announced that in 2024, it had launched a severe crackdown on organizations engaged in illegal training activities under the guise of "devotional practice" and similar concepts. These activities included those falsely promoting "soul healing" and "potential activation" as fronts for illegal training operations.
The article claimed that public security organs would continue to carry out special actions targeting groups such as "Falun Gong" and "Almighty God." "To curb the spread of cult organizations, local public security agencies are deepening programs like the 'Spring Rain Project,' focusing on rural grassroots communities, and conducting targeted psychological counseling and assistance work. Special efforts are made to help those who have fallen victim to cults reintegrate into society..."
Public security agencies across the country have also implemented the "Six-Entries" campaign, which brings anti-cult education to villages, universities, middle and primary schools, communities, government agencies, and businesses.
Over the past year, public security organs have worked on three fronts: risk prevention, legal action, and comprehensive governance, to halt the spread of diverse cult organizations. In 2024, the police organized more than 56,000 related activities, reaching over 17 million people, with more than 18 million internet users participating in the online signature campaign titled "Say No to Cults".
