On May 14, Yanjing Theological Seminary hosted a lecture by Dr. Huang Ying, associate researcher at the Christian Studies Office of the Institute of World Religions, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, on the topic of "Ecclesiology in Bonhoeffer's Early Works."

According to the seminary, Dr. Huang drew upon Dietrich Bonhoeffer's personal development and the evolution of his thought at various life stages to interpret his theology through the lens of his early writings. Her presentation guided the audience in exploring the essential themes and theoretical structure of Bonhoeffer's early ecclesiology.

During the Q&A session, attendees engaged in discussions with Dr. Huang on topics including the practical relevance of Bonhoeffer's ideas and how his ecclesiology continues to develop in today's context.

Since 2009, Dr. Huang has pursued research in Germany on the German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer. In 2018, she completed a doctoral dissertation on Bonhoeffer's early religious thought at Heidelberg University in Germany. In 2020, she received the Manfred Lautenschlaeger Award for Theological Promise from Heidelberg University and has served as a member of the International Bonhoeffer Society, among other academic roles.
