The Trilingual Old Testament in Chinese, Greek, and English was recently officially unveiled.
According to CCC&TSPM, the ceremony took place during CCC&TSPM's national training session held from June 16 to 19 in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. The event gathered over 120 participants, including pastoral staff and representatives from CC&TSPMs at various levels, theological seminaries, and churches nationwide, along with representatives from Nanjing Amity Printing Company and Shanghai Ai Ji Printing Press.
The Trilingual New Testament in Chinese, Hebrew, and English was published on March 26, 2023, including the Chinese Union Version, English Standard Version, and the scholarly NA28 Greek text. According to Guangdong Union Theological Seminary, designed to balance academic integrity with readability for Chinese readers, it features a critical apparatus and appendices to support deeper biblical study and encourage interest in the original languages.
The Chinese Union Version (CUV) is the widely used Bible translation among the Chinese Christian community and is a classic that many Chinese believers often read. Through the work of 72 Western missionaries, CUV was finally published in 1919. A revised edition was completed in 1998.
Rev. Xu Xiaohong, chairperson of the National TSPM, stated that since the reform and opening up, China's Christian publishing and distribution ministry has undergone three stages: initially focusing on meeting spiritual needs and supporting churches in achieving self-sufficiency; subsequently aiming to improve the quality of faith and strengthen the sense of service; and currently entering a phase of innovation in the digital age while operating in compliance with the law.
He stressed that adherence to laws and regulations is the fundamental principle in publishing and distribution work. He urged the attendees to firmly reject pirated books, strictly avoid foreign publications acquired through unlawful channels, and resolutely oppose the sale of books on illegal websites.
During the training and experience-sharing session, representatives from the Media Ministry Department of CCC&TSPM and local churches presented innovative practices in CCC&TSPM's publishing and distribution ministry, as well as outstanding experiences from various regions in recent years. The event also featured an awards ceremony honoring the top ten outstanding organizations in the distribution ministry.
In the group discussion segment, participants engaged in exchanges on topics such as management standards, team development, congregational services, pastoral needs, and strategies for innovation and growth. Each group presented a summary report of their discussions.
