Hubei Provincial CC&TSPM has officially released an illustrated educational booklet designed to help grassroots churches and believers identify and resist extremism, heterodoxy, and cultic movements.
The comic-style publication, Be Alert: Extremism, Heterodoxy, and Cults, was recently launched at a ceremony in Wuhan, organized by Hubei Provincial CC&TSPM. More than 60 pastors and church leaders from across the province attended the event.
According to Hubei CC&TSPM, Rev. Zhu Zhiguo, chairperson of Hubei TSPM, said in his address that in an increasingly diverse social context and complex information environment, it is essential to help believers remain discerning and firmly grounded in orthodox Christian faith. He noted that the booklet presents core Christian teachings in a clear and accessible manner, while also exposing the defining characteristics and potential harms of extremist ideologies, heterodox teachings, and cults.
Speaking at the event, Tu Hanqiao, chair of the Board of Supervisors of Hubei CC&TSPM, emphasized that resisting extremism, heterodoxy, and cultic influence is vital not only for the healthy development of the church but also for the preservation of social harmony and the protection of citizens' legitimate rights and interests. He added that the booklet addresses common misconceptions and risk areas encountered at the grassroots level, combining positive guidance with cautionary examples.
The illustrated guide will be gradually distributed to churches across Hubei Province and used as a supplementary resource for faith education and related training at the local level.
