On July 25, 2019, Hangzhou Gulou Church held two lectures on ecotheology and waste sorting to help improve the congregation's ecological and environmental awareness.

According to Hangzhou Christian Council & Three - Self Patriotic Movement (CC&TSPM), during the lecture, Teacher Han Yu addressed the concept of the "Responsibility of Christians in Environmental Protection from Biblical and Ecotheological Perspectives". He encouraged the participants to apply the idea of "appreciating God's creation and protecting our living environment".

Hu Chenxia, a speaker from a local community, gave a speech concerning guidelines on garbage classification in life.

The lectures were attempts to introduce the forefront of academic ecotheology to local churches and help Christians apply the Great Commandments to life through waste sorting.
