Churches in China’s southeastern coastal Fujian Province made donations in cash and kind to help reduce the spread of coronavirus.

In addition to implementing the suspension of in-person gatherings and measures of epidemic prevention and control, Jiaocheng District CC&TSPM in Ningde City on April 16 issued a proposal that believers donate to the frontline workers, the district CC&TSPM said.

Staff members of the district CC&TSPM donated 13 lights on April 17 to an isolated point and a sealed and controlled management area, when they knew that medical staff needed them to collect COVID-19 swabs at homes.

Two days later, they also bought 41 sets of protective clothing for Donghu Community, 165 bags of rice for Haixing Village, and more than 9,700 sets of self-heating rice for grass-roots communities, including 3,060 for Qidu Town where some places were sealed. All the supplies were valued 110,000 yuan.

Out of the total donations of 223,260 yuan, Beimen Church donated 53,360 yuan, Xiaxi Church 5,000 yuan to Xiaxi Village, Liudu Church 54,000 yuan to Liudu Village, and  Jinhan Church 6,000 yuan to Jinhan She Ethnic Township.
