Deacons in Tianjin were visited and cared for by church leaders recently.

Beginning in early May, the visitation lasted nearly two months. Rev. Mao Yajun, chairman and president of Tianjin CC&TSPM, sent some goods and money to the deacons, thanking them for their loyal service over the years, according to CCC&TSPM.

It has been 16 years since the Tianjin CC&TSPM set up deacons in batches in 2006 to supplement the pastoral strength of grass-roots churches in remote rural areas. The deacons appointed were volunteers with a certain good reputation from urban and rural churches. They maintained pure faith with management skills. After investigation and training, they were appointed as deacons according to the church regulations, cooperating with the management of gathering sites and the pastoral work for believers. "Thanks to their hard-working, all the work there was carried out in an orderly manner. Especially during the period when churches suspended in-person services due to the epidemic situation, believers' faith was strengthened," said the government-approval associations.

In addition to sickness due to being overworked all year round, some senior deacons have some difficulties in living during the epidemic. Commemorating their hard work over the past years during the visit, Rev. Mao helped to solve the difficulties they encountered after knowing about their living conditions.
