A folk Christian charitable organization is launching two fundraising projects for special people during Tencent’s “99 Giving Day” which falls on September 7-9.

This annual national charity day was initiated in 2015 by Tencent Charity and China Internet Development Foundation in conjunction with a number of domestic charity organizations and enterprises. This year many Christian charities are joining this campaign to gain matching donations from the Tencent Foundation.

In 2021, Reed’s Home, a civil charity organization in Zhenjiang City, received 78,539 yuan from 3,416 donations on Tencent's public welfare platform for a project of supplying artistic training to teeners with Down Syndrome.

This year, on the occasion of the eighth "99 Giving Day”, this organization is carrying out two fundraising activities on the basis of last year’s project.

In the project to improve disability employment with a goal of raising 60,000 yuan on September 4-6, participants can scan the QR code to make donations, and others receiving the invitation can increase their friends’ matching donation ratio by answering questions, sending flowers, or donating one yuan.

The operations are the same in the other project conducted on September 7-9, whose aim is to help teenagers with Down Syndrome integrate into society to realize their own value by caring for them through music training courses.

During these activities, Tencent Foundation allocates matching donations after people donate.  After the contributions, the donators will receive on their smartphones the information and certificates of the donations and match donations which will all be used for the public welfare projects carried out by the organization.

Large donations from companies and individuals are welcome, said Reed’s Home.
