One person named David Qaoud asked her Twitter followers if they heard about church preaching or sermons on singleness. To much surprise, people replied saying there are no single sermon discussed regarding being single.
So he wrote an article citing the three truths people won't hear about singleness in the church:
Singleness is a very lonely time.
"Singleness can be lonely and difficult," said one girl. "The loneliness," replied one guy, when I asked what's true about being single.
Almost every Christian single mentioned loneliness of being single.
Singleness provides great gospel opportunities.
When you think being lonely is the only fruit of singleness, some people mentioned the opportunities and blessings of what singleness brings.
"I think the fact that singleness can be an advantage is hardly ever addressed in the church," said one friend. "Some of us [singles] may actually want to be single if that means more leverage for the gospel."
Both single guys and single girls fight sexual temptation.
Many of us assumed that single guys battle with sexual temptation. As a result, many books, blogs and others are created to help them defeat this temptation but the society and church almost forgot about the girls.
"I've never once heard the topic of masturbation discussed," commented one girl, who has been in the church for multiple years. "How am I supposed to handle my sex drive?" asked another girl.
Some single ladies also asked that if they cannot go to church and discuss this part of singleness, then where should they go and seek help.
Singleness might be the waiting season but it does not need to be wasted. Single Christians should have a deep and fulfilling relationship with Jesus as He is the one who can satisfy the cravings and desires of our hearts.
