The American people have spoken and has selected its newest president.

Republican candidate Donald Trump has secured the presidency after winning several key states against his rival Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton who was earlier projected to win the elections. Clinton herself, according to CNN, had called Trump to concede when it was clear he will be winning the elections.

Trump will be the oldest first-term president - he is 70 years old - and this is his first elected post. When he joined the race 17 months ago, he had low popularity ratings and even his fellow party members were against his presidency. However, opinion polls showed that Trump had gotten the support from the white non-college educated workers and his campaign has brought him to win several key states.

It is still uncertain as to what Trump's policies will be as his campaign caused a lot of questions to be raised both home and abroad. He campaigned for "America First", an isolationist and protectionist stance that would focus mostly in the country's domestic development first. He also vowed to impose 35% tarrif on goods exported by the US companies that are currently abroad. He also proposed stricter immigration policies, especially towards people from war-torn Middle Eastern countries.

He also offered economic concessions with China, create a wall around the US border with Mexico and modify or repeal some of outgoing President Barack Obama's policies such as healthcare plan and Clean Power Plan. He also promised to work with other countries, including Russia.

In the end of the Congress, the Republicans are projected to take control over both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
