This weekend, Ritsumeikan University Osaka Ibaraki Campus will host the Christianity and China’s Modernization Forum 2024 in Osaka, Japan, featuring Christianity and the modernization of East Asia.
From December 7 to 8, this gathering aims to explore the relationship between Christianity and modernization in their countries, addressing themes such as cultural integration, feminism, colonial histories, theological dialogues, and society development across East Asia. Scholars from distinct professions will present insights during the six-part forum by reflecting on the history, examining the current state, and anticipating the future of Christianity in East Asia.
Co-hosted by the Center for Christianity and Chinese Studies (Los Angeles), Ritsumeikan University Institute of Social Systems, Fukuoka Jo Gakuin University, and the Journal of Research for Christianity in China, the two-day forum is sponsored by the Ritsumeikan Confucius Institute.
